FAMILY HISTORY FAIR

On 26 April 2014 The Kanab/Kaibab Family History Center held a Family History Fair. Some of the material was taken from the RootsTech program as presented by FamilySearch. We offered 31
classes throughout the day. 12 of these classes were video presentations from RootsTech
the remaining classes were live presentations. There were 14 different teachers, some taught multiple classes. And ten other members who fulfilled other duties. At lunch time pizza's were offered to the attendees. All through the day we offered one on one computer class where an attendee could ask very specific questions that were applicable to them.
The attendance was 74 individuals coming from all over Kanab. Flyers were posted around town and special invitations/posters were sent to each of the other religious denominations in Kanab. Since the Chapel and Family History Center were just over one year old it was an idea setting to hold this event.
Some of the classes were Family Tree Basics, Using Social Media, An Introduction to DNA, Researching on the Internet, and Available Resources at the Family History Center.
All in all, the Fair was well received in the community.

SWEETHEARTS BALL

The Sweethearts Ball was held in February at the Valley High School in Orderville. The Theme was Sweethearts in Paradise. Each ward decorated their tables in the theme of an assigned tropical island. The food was catered by Houston's Trail End Restaurant and was delicious. Music was provided by D.J. Dustin Taylor. Entertainment was provided by each ward and also, performed around the island theme, including a performance of an island dance by our Stake Presidency and High Councilmen. Our youth turned out to serve the meal. Many hands made light work. A good time was had by all!
