STAKE RELIEF SOCIETY 2015

President Kathy Judd, 1st Counselor Jann Hoyt, 2nd Counselor Harriett Perkins and Secretary Gay Brinkerhoff

January
Ward Conferences are for the next 3 months.
Kanab 5th ...  Jan. 11th
Orderville 1st ... Jan. 25th
Glendale ... Feb. 8th
Kanab 4th ... Feb. 15th
Orderville 2nd ... Feb. 22nd
Alton ... March 8th
Kanab 3rd ... March 15th

As other years the Stake Presidency will do the Lessons when we visit the Wards. It gives us a chance to get to know the Sisters better.

January
President Adams told the Youth the "The Lord loves them!" and that their Parents, Teachers and Leaders love them also.

His scripture that he used was Alma 53:20
He especially went into about the Laws of Finance about giving our Tithing and Fast Offerings generously. He talked about Malachi and that the Lord will bless us if we pay or tithes and offerings.
Bishop Marty Hepworth said one thing that I felt was very important.
" Are we sleeping through the Restoration?"  that was in a talk by Pres. Uchtdorf
All Stake Presidencies are meeting with the Ward Presidencies 30 minutes after each Conference to discuss any concerns and questions that anyone has.
This is a quote from our January Newsletter:

"Let your talk be quiet, for quiet talk is the language of love. It is the language of peace. It is the language of God. It is when we raise our voices that tiny mole hills of difference become mountains of conflict ... Cultivate the art of the soft answer. It will bless your homes, it will bless your lives, it will bless your companionship, it will bless your children."
                         President Gordon B. Hinckley
**It will bless you in your callings as you serve and are an example to the Sisters in your wards and stake.**

February
The Sweethearts Ball is coming up on Valentine's Day, February 14th this year and will be held in Orderville in the High School old gym.
There was a great turnout once again, with great food. The Stake Activity Sisters did a great job.
Pres. Adams touched on our Spiritual and Temporal Blessings and that we all need to Strengthen our Testimonies.
Concerns: the casual way of living the Gospel. Take hold of or lives and re-evaluate it!
We are holding a Special Stake and Region Fast on Fast Sunday in March to Fast for moisture. Our whole state has not had much water this past winter.
He also spoke about Malachi "Opening up windows of Heaven"
NOTE:  a few day before the Fast and during the Fast we all were blessed with much needed rain.
A quote from our February Newsletter:

"We  must cherish one another, watch over one another, comfort one another and gain instruction, that we may all sit down in Heaven together."  Lucy

 March
The General Women's Broadcast is Saturday March 28th at 6 p.m. It is for all Sisters ages 8 and up. It was a wonderful Broadcast with the General Presidency speaking.
Pres. Adams talked about the Law of Tithing and spoke about that we each need Spiritual exercise every day. That we need to be cautious of what the World think is important.
Spoke about the Widows mite in 2 Corinthians 9
March is also the time that we Celebrate the Organization of the Relief Society. All the Wards had some fun celebrations in honor of this. They were fun nights to be had by all.

April
General Conference was held in SLC on April 4th and 5th. Listening to our Prophet and others is always very rewarding and spiritual.
There were some great Easter Ideas on lds.org
On Saturday April 18th the Kaibab Stake and the Kanab Stake are did a combined Super Saturday. The group "Heartbound" a group of Sisters that sing and talk about the gospel. The Young Women ages 14 and up were invited to this also. There was a large turnout and it was very inspirational being there with the Sisters from both Stakes and with the Sisters from "Heartbound".
A picture and thought from our April Newsletter:

May

Suzane Edwards ... 1st Counselor

GLENDALE WARD HISTORY

Vivian Brinkerhoff went back to her heavenly father on January 6.  She will truly be missed as she was an important contribution to the earth and to our ward.
February 15 the 13 year old scouts went on a campout in Johnson’s canyon with leaders Kyle Spencer and Tyler Baird.  They explored while filling scout requirement for badges and had a wonderful time.
The sweetheart ball was a success as the stake came together as couples and friends.  All in the ward that attended appreciate the stake putting this together.  For many it is the only time they go out for dinner and dancing throughout the year.
In March Chance Spencer received his Mission call.  He will be serving in Independence, Missouri and leaving on July 9th.
In April we had 6 missionary’s out.  Sister Mary Christina Cox in the Phillippines San Pablo Mission.  Elder Chase Spencer in Bonne Terre, Mo mission.  Elder Brent Kasen Palmer in Gamberg Germany.  Elder and Sister Brinkerhoff in Arlington, Washington.  Elder Lance Maxwell in Ohio Cleveland Mission.  Elder Shay Lam in Bryan, Texas.
We topped off the year with a ward family home evening on December 23 in the social hall.  There was a slide show made by Myrna Cox of members of the ward.  There was also goodies and it was enjoyed by everyone in attendance.

Enclosed you will see pictures and comments by the leaders of the ward and ward members containing the many things done this year.
